3 Tips To Create A Home That Feels Like You

HOW TO PUT LOVING ENERGY INTO YOUR HOME

Winter is only a few weeks away and I thought it might be a good time to chat about how to put loving energy into your home. I love Marie Kondo, but when I think about going through all of my drawers/ things and re-arranging everything, it kind of gives me a sick feeling in my stomach.

So my advice to you is, work slowly on changing your look and plan plan plan. Spontaneous shopping trips are fun but mostly lead to the vicious cycle of trying, buying & returning. Use mood board creators like style source book, gather inspo from the world around you, think about the items that bring you joy. For me around this time its fluffy slippers, cuddly throws and feather filled cushions. Warm tones like this Peach and PInk mood board aka room design can really alter the vibe of a room from chilly to cosy.

EXPERT TIPS INSPIRED FROM THIS MOOD BOARD

  1. Pick an artwork you really love, then pull the same tones out into your cushions.

  2. Keep big ticket furniture pieces (I’m talking about the sofa here) neutral so you can easily adjust your look without spending the big bucks every time you want to change the look up.

  3. Add in nature with plants, artificial plants do have their place in the world. Let’s face it, if you have a darker apartment like me, some real plants won’t survive the lack of light in winter… so its nice to know there are options out there.
